Calling Yourself Home

September 15, 20251 min read

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply bring yourself back home.

Do you ever feel like your mind is everywhere at once? Responsibilities, worries, "what ifs", what you should have said in that conversation you had months ago... each one pulls at you like a ribbon in the wind. Like your your energy is tangled in all these different places and you feel scattered, drained or like you're never fully here - present in the moment.

Calling Yourself Home

The practice: Call your energy back.

Take three slow breaths and remind yourself "I'm here."

Write down what's swirling in your head so it doesn't keep spinning.

Close your eyes and picture all your ribbons untangling from wherever they are, gently returning, resting back where they belong.

Or perhaps you prefer a different picture. I often imaging a glowing sphere around me. When I feel scattered, it's like the sphere has cracked and pieces of me have flown off to where my energy has gone. When I whisper "Come home", those shards magnetize back, re-forming the orb until I feel whole again.

Whether ribbons or spheres the practice is the same: gather yourself back into yourself. When you do, your energy rests in your again. You're clearer, calmer and more whole.

Try this:

Next time you feel pulled in all directions, whisper to yourself: Come home.
