Living The Practice

October 07, 20252 min read

Living the practice isn't about perfection. It's about remembering who you are, again and again.

It's one thing to know we should come home to ourselves. To set boundaries. To slow down and breathe. It's another thing entirely to live that knowing - especially on the days when life feels like it's moving faster than your breath can keep up.

We can read the quotes, light the candles, whisper the mantras... and still get swept away by the noise of the world. Even the most grounded should forgets sometimes... And that's ok.

Living The Practice

Imperfection is the practice:

I don't get it perfect. Never have and, honestly, I don't think we're meant to.

Some days, I 'overgive'. Some days, I lose myself in the scroll. Some days, I feel scattered in a hundred directions like ribbons caught in the wind. But the difference now is I know the way back.

That's what "living the practice" really means. It's not staying home all the time. It's remembering the path that leads you there.

The way back:

When I notice I've left home, I pause. Just one breath. A hand on my heart. A quiet whisper: "I'm here. I'm home."

When I feel scattered, I gather my ribbons. I call my energy back from the places where I've stretched it too thin - the conversations, the worries, the lists. I let it flow back into me. Centering myself again.

When I feel drained, I step back into my temple. That might mean closing my laptop. Turning my phone face down. Lighting a candle. Or simply sitting in silence long enough to feel my body exhale.

These moments - small and/or ordinary as they may seem - Have become invaluable 'homecomings' for me.

Strength through return:

Every time I come back, I feel a little stronger. Not because I've mastered it, but because I've relaxed into it.

Coming home to myself is no longer about control - it's about compassion. It's the remembering that I can return. That I will return. That, no matter how far I wander, I know the way back.

A Gentle Reminder: Coming home to yourself isn't escape. It's the way back to your real power.

Reflection prompt:

When was the last time you felt at home within yourself? What helps you find your way back when you forget?
