You Don’t Have to Leap—But You Don’t Have to Shrink Either

Growth rarely asks us to leap. More often, it simply asks us not to shrink."

A while ago I found myself standing at a networking event.

Part of me wanted to introduce myself. The other part wanted to disappear into the wallpaper.

I realised something that day. Nobody else was keeping me small.

I was.

Playing small often feels safe.

Our comfort zones exist for a reason. They protect us from rejection. Failure. Embarrassment. Judgement. But they also protect us from growth.

Sometimes the biggest risk isn’t trying something new. It’s staying exactly where we are.

The question that changed everything.

I asked myself:

“If I keep doing what I’ve always done… what will my life look like in five years?”

The answer scared me more than stepping outside my comfort zone. So I chose to move. Not because I suddenly felt confident. Because I was ready.

Confidence follows action.

I think we often wait until we feel ready before we begin. But confidence rarely comes first.

Confidence grows every time we take one small step. Every conversation. Every opportunity. Every moment we choose not to hide.

You don't have to leap.

Growth doesn’t always require huge changes. Sometimes it’s simply saying yes. Sending the email. Sharing the post. Walking into the room.

Trusting yourself enough to take one step. That’s how confidence is built.

A gentle reminder.

You don’t have to leap. But you don’t have to keep shrinking either.

One small step is enough.

Where would you like to go next?

Whether you need five quiet minutes or you’re ready to explore more deeply, there’s always a gentle next step waiting for you.
